Arriving at Forest Gate for Ursuline Links!

After an easy flight from JFK, the US delegation to the UK for Ursuline Links has safely arrived across the ocean.  Theresa Manganiello '17 is representing Ursuline Academy.  She joins three students from The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, two students from the Academy of Mt. St. Ursula in the Bronx, and two students from Ursuline Academy in St. Louis, MO.

From the Ursuline Links website:
Ursuline Links is a volunteer program run by the Ursuline Sisters and founded by Sr. Kathleen Colmer, OSU.  It aims to give students and adults opportunities to be of service in the UK and abroad.  Ursuline Sisters from the UK and USA are working together to lead the projects.  The program gives yound people the change to work together for the benefit of others.  It allows them to work, pray, relax and have a good time together.  It helps them to develop their understanding of how we embody Gospel values in our lives today.

For more information, please check out the Ursuline Links website here.

We wish Theresa and the entire delegation a wonderful experience abroad and we will keep you in our prayers throughout your journey.

Sunny days with our Ursuline sisters

Today was the second full day of our UA leadership conference in Ohio. In the morning, we headed to visit the school affiliated with the Ursuline Sisters in Cleveland, Ohio. This school is called The Beaumont School after the founding Sister. We heard from Beaumont alumni and how the values they were taught modeled after St. Angela has impacted their lives past their time at Beaumont. We then took a tour of the beautiful campus with features a new STEM wing and mansion which is a national historical building. Later, we presented about our school, UA Wilmington and shared ideas with each other about the traditions each school does and shared tips on how to run events well. Lastly, we went to University Circle in Cleveland to explore the Cleveland Art Museum and listen to a live concert. The weather was beautiful and it was a great way to end the day!

St. Angela as a leader

Yesterday, we started the day off with breakfast & continued with presentations from guest speakers. We discussed representation, leadership skills, and how diversity impacts us and how we lead. After lunch, we continued these presentations and started discussing St. Angela as a leader. Continuing, schools started presenting their PowerPoints and videos on their schools and traditions. We then got ready for our fashion show, where we show cased our school uniforms & other common attire. Then, we had dinner & after dinner we continued school presentations. After, we stayed outside, hung out, & played games. We exchanged gifts & spent most of the night bonding with our sisters.

2015 Student Leadership Conference

Yesterday afternoon, two Ursuline Academy students departed with Sr. Betty to attend the 2015 Student Leadership Conference at the Beaumont School in Beaumont, Ohio.  Sophia Simoes & Maddy Taylor are representing the student body at this unique conference and are excited to connect with their sisters from other Ursuline schools.  Judy Wimberg, the Executive Director of Ursuline Educational Services, describes "meeting other Ursuline students and creating bonds of friendship (the beginning of networking which will be a significant part of their adult professional lives)" as one of the benefits of the conference and "we encourage them to take full advantage of that opportunity."

Stay tuned for posts by both Sophia & Maddy!
