Today is the last day of summer camp at Qinhuangdao, which was filled with club presentations. The last day of class there is a tradition where the camp director delivers a cake to the classroom and the students smear cake on each other. We exchanged gifts and autographed our camp tshirts. On Thursday August 6th, we had our closing ceremony where each club had performances about what they covered over the last two weeks. My dance club students danced to "Thriller" by Michael Jackson, and the camp was cheering them on! We left the camp with taking lots of pictures of our students and teachers, and saying our goodbyes. It was bittersweet to leave, but I know I will stay in contact with my Chinese teacher and hopefully be able to connect our classes during the school year.
We spent the last couple days touring in Xi'an to see the Terracotta Army and Great Goose Pagoda. This has truly been an experience of a lifetime and I have a lot to share when I come back to Ursuline! I would love to be able to get other teachers interested in going on this trip!
